Upon close inspection, this work of art unmistakably resembles the book’s cover, showcasing “Cherish,” a perfect circle designed using the unique artist’s fabric technique: a mixture of tiny fragments of paint called “petals” and “textiles.” The color in this work has a three-dimensional presence. Fernando Bonnin pastes thousands of “petals” onto the canvas. Thin plates of dry paint with soft, flexible textures take the shape of flower petals. Together, these petals create assemblies or structures that he calls “textiles” because they are intertwined. “Tenderness” spatial projection confidently extends beyond the canvas because its circular shape invites a more profound exploration, prompting reflections on the themes of continuity and connection.
