The large-format painting “Machu Picchu” highlights the artist’s innovative material use. Paying homage to the Inca site’s dramatic geography on the top of the mountain, it incorporates golden leaf Blattgold (gold leaf), like Gustav Klimt’s, applied to the hill. It illustrates a cultural transition with what the artist calls the “textiles” technique—an evolving practice since 2018 that adds opulence to the textures. Interestingly, Machu Picchu’s stones were precisely cut to fit together without mortar, a method that helped the structure withstand earthquakes. Surrounded by these legendary mountains, the artwork evokes both the majesty of Incan architecture and the artist’s creativity, offering viewers a sublime visual experience.
