Laberinto II (Labyrinth II) showcases three visual languages. The first is defined and analytical; the second is spontaneous with curved lines and spirals, and the third is a background rendered with vigorous and energetic gestural strokes. This background reflects the automatic art of surrealists, aiming to unlock the knowledge of the unconscious mind. Painting rectangles and squares with joyful tangles of red, blue, and yellow and loose strokes with little dots, the artist creates a harmonious dialogue between analytic control and intuitive freedom. A unique rectangle framing a tiny part of the background gestures offers a way out of the Labyrinth, symbolizing the “basic search for forces of life” as described by André Masson (French surrealist artist), who defined the pleasure of painting his pictorial adventure as a basic search for the forces of life.
